Drummer Boy at Bull Run Review

Hi blog! Missed you! Haha, really I feel totally guilty for putting off my blogs. But I'm back with a blog on "Drummer Boy at Bull Run" by Gilbert Morris.

Btw, Dawn I'm sorry I ditched you to writing all the blogs for awhile! <3

Okay, this series isn't about princesses, spies or the supernatural. And it's the complete opposite to S.E. Hinton's books. This book is based off a time in history: The Civil War.
After hearing that it was about the Civil War, I'm sure most of you automatically said you'd hate these books. But honestly it's a series I'll always remember. Maybe because of realizing what the soldiers and there families had to go through back then, or maybe because the way Gilbert Morris really made you remember his characters and really get into them. Or maybe it's because it's fun to grow with the characters as they grow in a series.
But anyway, after reading all 10 books in this series I definitely wish they wouldn't have ended.
Drummer Boy At Bull Run

GoodReads Summary:
Jeff Majors and Leah Carter share a sorrowful goodbye as the Civil War brings a heartbreaking separation of friends. Despite being on opposite sides of the War, Jeff and Leah vow to stay friends forever and see each other through battle after battle, both on the field and off. Drummer Boy at Bull Run is the first of a ten book series, that tells the story of two close families find themselves on different sides of the Civil War after the fall of Fort Sumter in April 1861.

Thirteen year old Leah becomes a helper in the Union army with her father, who hopes to distribute Bibles to the troops. Fourteen year old Jeff becomes a drummer boy in the Confederate Army and struggles with faith while experiencing personal hardship and tragedy. The series follows Leah, Jeff, family, and friends, as they experience hope and God's grace through four years of war.

Being that it's the first book in a series, I give it a 4.0. I really enjoyed these books, and I'm someone that's very picky on what I read, so there GOOD. :)
